crafternoon.

Nick's gone and I have a sewing machine.  Whenever I don't want to watch television when Owen is napping or whenever I am suffering from insomnia, I generally start a craft project, or organize the bookshelf, or eat.  Mostly I craft.

I made this tote to practice with a zipper.  It's not good, but it was just a practice.
I mod podged that pencil case.
I painted the inside of that vase with enamel paint.

So, I made a baby blanket (a tiny, practice one)
I made a totable floor pillow.
I made pillow covers for the couch.
I made an infinity scarf and tailored those pants from trousers into skinnys.
All of these projects have flaws.  Especially the vase.  I now know why so many stay at home mom bloggers are crafters.  There is something really satisfying about making something.  You feel accomplished.  You can measure your success.  You didn't just sit around while the baby napped!  I am really into sewing.  I have an insatiable appetite for fabric.  I want to get really good so that people actually want homemade presents from me.  So- onward I go.  Practice, practice, practice!!

I am SUPER impressed! I'm thinking I'd like to take up sewing one day...I literally know nothing. Merrick's Art is super inspirational...and a little depressing because she always looks so cute.
