Jefferson Davis.  This is not the man who invented peanut butter, though that was my first guess to Nick.  Nay, George Washington Carver can take credit for that discovery.

As it turns out Jefferson Davis was president of the Confederate States.

Monticello has nothing on you Beauvoir!  Sike!  

Why am I talking about Jefferson Davis?  It is because his house, Beauvoir, is located in my new hometown.  Unfortunately it is not much to behold as it was destroyed in Hurricane Katrina along with most of the homes on the coast.

I am not much of a Southerner.  I didn't even know the president of the confederacy.   Sorry Mrs. Pantall, my eighth grade social studies teacher!
