craft. sew. repeat.

It's hot out in Mississippi.  During the daytime hours Owen and I either get our pool on or craft.  I wanted to show you  my living room mini makeover.  I'm aware I already showed you the collage wall, but I did more than that.  Can you believe it?

I added valances and hung the oars up.

A baby proof house is not a perfect house.  That's why there is a pot for Owen to bang on and everything from the coffee table basket residing on the floor under said basket.  I'm going to have to rethink the glass on the side table as well.  As you can see Owen has it in for that frame and crystal bowl.

My bookcase is another place where Owen and I disagree.  I think the books should stay on the shelf.  Owen thinks they should be pulled off.  My bookshelves are getting on my nerves.  I tinted the ball jars, but I'm not sure they look great there.  The sail boat and buoys were set up on the high bookshelf to save them from Owen the conqueror, but I'm definitely doing some re-imagining on the way this looks.

I need another project.  Nick is headed off to the frosty arctic next week.  What better way to occupy my time than to re-do the office!  While cleaning out my old teaching supplies I discovered this desk storage container.  It looked very homely, white with grey knobs.  I whipped out that trusty can of navy spray paint and went to town.  I wasn't expecting it to turn out, but since I already had it, I wasn't too worried about messing it up.  Then I used mod podge on some scrapbook paper to recover the knobs pretty.  My goal in the office is to put storage up on the wall and move all of Nick's Navy relics and accomplishments onto another wall.  Here are my two inspiration pictures.

I've set a budget of 50 dollars for myself.  This could get a little hairy as I want to reorganize Nick's Navy bookshelf, add shelving on the wall, make a tray to hold electronics, paint a bulletin board, and spray paint/mod podge the filing cabinet.  Flea market trip anyone??

I think your living room looks really great - very nicely decorated and homey feeling.
Just my 2 cents' worth.
