west meets south.

This is for all my fellow San Diegans.
in san diego can hunting is like easter egg hunting.  check out this bag of cans a kindly neighbor
hid next to the dumpster for his friends!

Recycling is good.  Jack Johnson wrote a song about.  It helps the earth.  That is why for the past two years I have been throwing my cans into the nearest trash receptacle I could find.  Wait a minute Kaley- that sounds like the opposite of recycling.  Oh no, it isn't.  In San Diego many men and women make their living by getting cans out of trash cans and taking them to the recycling center.  In California they have passed a law called "No Can Left Behind" and it requires trash cans to be combed regularly every half hour.  I personally heard my dumpster being rifled through at all hours of the night.  I once threw a can in a trashcan in a park and not one minute later it was saved to go to the recycling plant!  So not only was I a recycler by proxy, I was also donating 5 cents to a person in need.

This doesn't happen here in Mississippi.  There are not many homeless here.  In fact, I have not seen one pan handler.  This could be because they can get trailers and live off of the swamp.  I don't know.  I just know I have not seen a single homeless encampment since I have arrived.  It also means that I have to start actually recycling my cans.
