Fatal Attraction

Deadly

This may or may not be about a show on Animal Planet. Okay, you got me... it is!

This show is utterly captivating. I'm in awe. It documents people who are obsessed with exotic animals and keep them as house pets. As you have probably gathered from the title, these obsessions do not end well. So far I have only viewed the episodes featuring lizards and big cats. These people, they feel they have a connection with a wild animal. It's borderline insane. It is insane.

One man was eaten by his gang of huge lizards. They tore out his heart, his lungs, they ate his face. He let them sleep in his bed!

One woman was eaten by her tiger only to be discovered by her son. Eaten. The tiger ate her. It fed off of her. They interviewed her former parent in laws. I cried. I was mortified. They showed clips of the tiger aggressing the police as he tried to protect his "prey" which was her. Real video. It's terrifying. To say that I am intrigued would be an understatement.

One man hasn't been eaten, yet. I would like to quote him (to the best of my recollection).
"I hope when I die they will find me with my dead cats in a big pile waiting to be taken on the wings of the wind"
He said he loves his tiger Lola more than his biological son. He has a large tomb dedicated to his deceased tiger "Bobo" which has a shrine around it.

DVR this (Next week is Chimpanzees, Sunday at 10). It was surprisingly emotional. I cried. I covered my mouth with my hands and stared wide eyed at the television.

PS
Animal Planet also taught me that they used to sell exotic animals, such as lions and elephants, in Harrods in London. If you don't know what Harrods is, it's a luxury department store. Yeah, I'll have some Chanel... and... oh! That lion cub!
